Gratitude Revealed Launches September 27th!

8-025A_GR_LAUNCH_WEBGratitude Revealed is a series of short films that Louie Schwartzberg and his team at Moving Art have worked on for over a year, launching THIS SUNDAY, September 27, 2015 on and Gratitude Revealed is an unprecedented journey into the science, mystery and pursuit of the building blocks of gratitude that explores what gratitude is, why it’s important and what we can all do to live more gracious lives. Increasing gratitude is a proven pathway back from the disconnection we feel in our lives, disconnection from ourselves, our planet, and each other.

Louie Schwartzberg’s TEDx: Nature. Beauty. Gratitude. was a viral sensation, reaching tens of millions of viewers who shared and responded with their own stories of increased gratitude.

In collaboration with the scientific experts at the Greater Good Science Center (GGSC) at UC Berkeley, we provide viewers with exercises tailored to who they are and what they need. From a curated, multi-day immersive program, entitled Mastering Gratitude, to quicker “one-off” tools and practices, we extend the reach and the impact of Gratitude Revealed, making it not only a series to watch – but also a movement that changes people’s lives.

Our films educate and inspire, and the program offerings empower audiences to take new and interesting steps in their own lives. We have partnered with the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) to premiere Gratitude Revealed on in a partnership that is the first of its kind, marketing the project to their millions of dedicated followers and helping to reach the largest, most diverse possible audience.

We invite you to join us and start your own journey into the wondrous world of gratitude through Gratitude Revealed.

Lighting The Way

Today is National Lighthouse Day !  Recognized by Congress on August 7, 1789, lighthouses have been a symbol of safe harbor, guiding ships back to port, helping its crew find their way home.  Every time I go out to film or photograph the sea, I am always in awe of the infinite depths of the deep blue waters that cover 70% of this planet.  Lighthouses are beacons rising above these mysterious waters.  They also serve as reminders that we are at the mercy of the earth — the constant ebb and flow of the powerful oceans — and we must respect and protect it.  So, go and visit a lighthouse and enjoy the view!

Greenland On My Mind

Never could I have fantasized in my wildest dreams that I would be able to travel all over this beautiful planet and photograph some of the most breathtaking and amazing natural landscapes imaginable to man.  This time I find myself in Greenland, a country of incomparable beauty, and so much ICE!

Greenland, deceptive in its name, is nearly 80% covered by ice.  The Greenland Ice Sheet, along with the Antarctic Ice Sheet, contains 99% of the freshwater on the planet.  However, due to climate change, it is melting at an accelerated pace, causing rising sea levels and ocean acidity, killing our delicate coral reef ecosystems and creating more extreme weather across the planet.

Nature has been my lifelong muse and inspires me everyday, in both my personal and professional life. The ramifications are profound if we do not protect our beautiful and precious planet.   So treat Mother Earth well!

Moving Mondays: Summer of Letting Go

Summer is the optimal time to shed our attachment to personal notions of the exact path we need to take to reach our currently set goals.  With sunny reflective days and warm meditative nights, releasing this hold on expectations will allow us to greet the universe with an open and grateful heart, thereby granting us the ability to accept that we may or may not attain our preset goals, but instead we may end up achieving more that we ever imagined possible.

Reflection for the week: How can letting go of your expectations get you to better place, with a potentially better outcome?

Moving Mondays: Ride the Wave

Be open to the unexpected opportunities that may come up in your life. Though you may not be fully prepared in every way, once you ready your mind to the possibility of a transition or shift, it could lead to very serendipitous results. Like a surfer who is waiting for the the next wave, whether it be big or small, slow or fast, he is prepared to take it as it comes, to get up on that board and possibly get knocked down.  But he will get up again and wait for that next wave to see where it will take him.

Reflection for the week: How can you open yourself up to the opportunities the universe has in store for you and be better able to ride the waves through the ups and downs?

Bee Careful Today

Did you know that today, July 10th, was National Don’t Step On A Bee Day? Let’s take a moment today to think about bees and how they benefit our fragile ecosystem.  We humans depend on these little buzzing pollinators for most of the fruits, nuts, seeds and vegetables on this planet.  Yet their populations are diminishing drastically, much of it attributed to Colony Collapse Disorder, and without them, the food supply for humans would be devastated.  I have made an entire film on pollinators, Wings of Life, and I continue to spread the message of their plight every chance I get.  Read more about my thoughts on CCD and  how my connection with nature affects my cinematography with National Geographic’s Pop Ominivore.  So go out and plant some wildflowers, build a bee waterer in your garden and please take care not to step on a bee today or any day!

Moving Mondays: Hello Summer!

Swimming pools, barbeques, sunny days and warm nights – summer is here!  It is a time of abundant activity and a thriving Mother Nature.  However, with all of this heat and daytime movement, we tend to get tired, quicker.  We should take care to rest and replenish our energy by slowing down and looking to nature. And once rested, we can revel in the bustle of warm summer nights alongside the chirping crickets and blinking fireflies.  Have a great summer!

Reflection of the week: How is your energy level affected by hot summer days and can you take nature breaks to reinvigorate yourself?
