This week is National Pollinator Week! Initiated six years ago by the Pollinator Partnership, this week is designed to educate and empower people to do more to protect the world’s pollinators.
“Pollinating animals, including bees, birds, butterflies, bats, beetles and others, are vital to our delicate ecosystem, supporting terrestrial wildlife, providing healthy watershed, and more. Therefore, Pollinator Week is a week to get the importance of pollinators’ message out to as many people as possible,” says the Partnership.
To celebrate the occasion, we’ll be posting powerful pollinator news each day this week!
If you’re a fan of Wings of Life, you should definitely check out Swiss filmmaker Markus Imoof’s latest film More Than Honey, an investigative documentary about the loss of bees due to Colony Collapse Disorder. A descendent of a long line of Alpine beekeepers, Imoof examines this crucial issue with intelligent storytelling and beautiful cinematography.
